Skiing in Livigno: a naturally gorgeous experience

The particular characteristics which have earned it the nickname of Small Tibet make Livigno the hometown of winter sports, and indeed our valley sometimes appears to have been created for people to ski in it.

Free ski-bus

Moving between Livigno’s two skiable sides is easy and comfortable, thanks to the free ski-bus service, with stops at the feet of the ski-lift structures.

Cross-country skiing and the Sgambeda

Cross-country skiing is a famous discipline in Livigno, thanks to the 40 kilometers of trails the location offers. The cross-country skiing season starts as early as November, yet on a symbolic level it actually begins with the December Sgambeda, the international cross-country skiing marathon.

Telemark skiing and the Skieda

These snow-covered trails are also ideal for lovers of telemark skiing, one of the most ancient skiing techniques in existence. This discipline has an unmissable yearly event too: the Skieda Telemark Race, which typically takes place at the beginning of April.
Where to ski in Livigno
It is possible to ski on two sides of Livigno, the Mottolino-Trepalle and the Carosello 3000: here you will find skiing trails from 1800 meters up to almost 3000 meters of altitude.

Skiing trails in Livigno

Thanks to its elevated position, the snow conditions in Livigno are always excellent and only very rarely is artificial snow required. A typical skiing season in Livigno lasts from the end of November until the start of May.
